Under the supervision of the Party Chief, performs simple land surveying field work and related manual labor in the field and occasionally in the office, in support of land surveying operations. nsp;Typical duties and responsibilities include:nbsp;nbsp;

• Holdslevel rod, prism poles or range poles, as instructed, for determining elevations and/or field layout.
  
  
  
  
  



• Measures distance between survey points, using plumb bob and chain or steel tape.
  
  
  
  
  



• Sets up tripod and tribrachs over survey points.
  
  
  
  
  



• Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey, using brush hook, knife, ax, machete, chain saw or other cutting tools.
  
  
  
  
  



• Uses pick and shovel in the location of survey control points.
  
  
  
  
  


• Places survey stakes at designated points, asructed.

  Job requires flexibility to work overtime and trael outside of home office's location. Depending on the project, travel to survey sites may include the following: long commutes, occasional overnight stays, temporary relocation near a survey site, and in some instances out-of-state or international assigments.
  
  Physical requirements include ability to walk long distances in rough terrain of survey site, as well as the physical strength, agility and endurance to work outdoors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions, and carry heavy loads; good eyesight, coordination, and hearing to communicate verbally and manually (using hand signals).
  
  Incumbent may be required to drive company truck, in which case must possess valid driver's license and good driving record.
